Hideaways in France
France is fantastically diverse. Head to the super-chic Mediterranean coastline for superb shopping and some wonderful restaurants, or go in land to discover hidden Bastides surrounded by their own vineyards. Or to the Alps, often thought of as a winter destination, but which are lovely in the summer with crystal clear streams and green grass valleys. For true romantics why not start or finish your French holiday in Paris, wandering through the streets of Montmartre, shopping on the rue Bonaparte, or sitting on the banks of the Seine.

Château de Bagnols
Beaujolais
Dating from the 13th century, this is one of the most beautiful and historic hotels we have ever stayed in. We fell in love with the hotel even before we saw the rooms, with its gorgeous honey - coloured stone, fairy tale towers , drawbridge and moat. But the bedrooms are every bit as beautiful. The Château is equally delightful whether in the winter or the summer.

Bastide de Marie
Provence
A hidden gem, nothing about this small and perfectly formed hotel disappoints. This is one of our favourite hotels in Europe. In fact we were almost tempted to keep it to ourselves. Each of the 14 bedrooms is different but every one is utterly gorgeous. Meals are served on the pretty terrace, in the shade of a huge lime-tree. Dinner at this hotel is a delight; you are greeted with an apéritif and nibbles, which is followed by excellent food and the hotel's own wine.

Hotel Mont Blanc
Megève
A delightful hotel in the heart of Mègeve is an ideal home for a wonderful ski break. Sister hotel to the Fermes de Marie, and equally beautiful in style, the Hotel Mont Blanc is located in the heart of Megève so is ideal for those more active skiers who want to be closer to the action and the ski lifts. The lovely spa keeps both skiers and those on a summer holiday pampered.

Villa Marie
St Tropez
Villa Marie is the perfect, stylish haven from which to enjoy the bustle of St Tropez. Set just outside the village of St Tropez, this pretty hacienda style hotel is close enough to the action and beaches, but far enough away to ensure you can properly chill out. The very pretty pool, nestled into the rocks with its al-fresco restaurant, is the perfect place to spend lazy days.

Fermes de Marie
Megève
This chalet style hotel, in the shadow of Mont Blanc, is one of the most romantic hideaways we have found in Europe. It's hard to convey how romantic and stylish the inside of the Fermes is, built from old farm buildings, there is an emphasis on open fire places, wooden beams and warm fabrics creating a very cosy feeling. There are three exceptional restaurants; our particular favourite is the cheese specialties restaurant where they do the most delicious Fondu or Raclette.
