Kensington Place
Cape Town
Great location, stunning views of Table Mountain, beautifully designed rooms and wonderful service make this chic boutique hotel our favourite in Cape Town. Little wonder therefore Kensington Place has been voted as one of the ‘Top 101 Hotels’ and one of the top ten boutique hotels in the world by Conde Nast Traveller. With just nine rooms the atmosphere is informal yet exclusive. The owner Chris has done an incredible job of making KP both spoiling and relaxing. Breakfast is served al-fresco in the small but pretty rose scented garden until 13.00 hrs for anyone wanting a proper lie in. The plunge pool is equipped with a basket of sun cream in case you have forgotten yours. Champagne is served on arrival to get you in the mode for some proper pampering.
Indeed so dedicated is the hotel to spoiling its guests that it has a complimentary Champagne and Oyster evening once a week to warm you up for your night out. It is the little extra touches that make a hotel truly incredible and KP excels at this. After a recent renovation all rooms now have laptops plus iPod docking stations and Skype for anyone who really needs their creature comforts. Situated in the fashionable Higgovale area of Cape Town the hotel is both away from the busy centre but only five minutes taxi away from the best restaurants and boutiques.
